One of the general color schemes that will affect people is red. Red is an energetic color that can cause people to feel excited and stirred to the point of raising blood pressure and heart rate. Blue can be relaxing blue gives the impression of peace of mind or a sense of calm. This is often described as peaceful, quiet, safe, and orderly. While dark blues can bring on or intensify feelings of sadness because too much dark blue can be depressing.
Others calming colors are green and purple. Green tends to make most people think of nature, since so much of the natural world is green and feel comfort. It's about connections with nature, or with our fellow humans. It's also good for general stress, since it can help balance emotions. Purple is cause calm, related to imagination, intuition, and insight. In some situations it can also be very peaceful.
Therapists have begun to include color therapy in their work, using color changes and images to bring patients into calmer or more animated states in which they can provide therapeutic assistance. They also help people understand how they react to various colors and offer advice accordingly. For example, on days when people are feeling down, they should wear yellow or red to help raise their moods.
As personal tastes are various, some individuals may be affected differently by some colors and it is wise to experiment with different hues and keep track of how they represent to your mood to find how "color therapy" can work for you.
